Pam DeGuzman, PhD, MBA, RN, CNL
Dr. Pam DeGuzman is an Associate Professor of Nursing at UVA School of Nursing and the Nurse Scientist for UVA Health. She has a program of research in improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations. Dr. DeGuzman has over 40 research studies published in academic journals and is recognized as a national expert in studying implementation of telemedicine in rural public libraries. She is passionate about developing innovative ways to transform the way nurses deliver care, and involving point-of-care nurses in the development and implementation of novel approaches.
Ty Ashworth, BSN, RN, CMSRN
Ty Ashworth, BSN, RN, CMSRN is a Unit-Based Nurse Leader for 3-West (Adult Acute Care Medicine) and 3-North (Progressive Care Unit Medicine). He is currently studying in the RN-to-CNL Master of Science program at the School of Nursing here at the University of Virginia. Ty started on 3-West as a Patient Care Technician in 2015 before he began as a Registered Nurse in 2016. Since 2016 he has served 3-West in various capacities. He remains an active participant in UVA's Shared Governance structure, currently serving as UVA's Nursing Clinical Practice Committee Chair for 2024.
Nikki McLamb, BSN, RN, CCRN, TCRN
Nikki McLamb is a Clinician 4 and Nurse Education Coordinator in the Neuro ICU at UVA Health. She is currently pursuing her degree as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner as well at UVA. During her 20 years in healthcare, she has emerged as a leader in advocating for evidence-based practice and promoting the bedside clinician's voice in quality improvement both within her unit and the organization.
Kate Joshua, MLIS
Kate Joshua, Clinical Librarian, brings 12 years of collaborative experience in hospital-based evidence-based practice (EBP) spaces. Within UVA Health’s nursing community, she provides formal instruction through the Office of Nursing Research, the Nurse Residency Program, and other specialty-specific curriculums. Beyond nursing, she also caters to the information needs of all clinically facing practitioners, providers, and trainees. She is passionate about empowering interdisciplinary teams to make evidence-driven decisions that enhance patient care and improve experiences for both patients and providers.
Claiborne Miller-Davis, MS, BA, BSN, RN-BC
Claiborne Miller-Davis is a Nurse Researcher in the Office of Nursing Research at UVA Health. Prior to coming to UVA 6 years ago, she worked at the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center, for over 20 years. Her NIH experience that she brings to UVA includes, ICU Clinical Research Nurse, Research Coordinator in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac MRI Energetics as a clinical trial coordinator, Nurse Informaticist, and Nurse Specialist in Research as a team member and mentor with nurse researchers of all levels, with a particular specialty in qualitative data analysis. Her passion is helping nurses learn about research and accomplish their goals in their research endeavors.
